What Style is the Rest of Your House?
While remodeling your kitchen can be a fun opportunity to upgrade the look and feel of the space, you want to be sure that the new area stands out for the right reasons. Rather than becoming an eyesore or a shock compared to the rest of the home, consider what your other rooms look like and think about how your new kitchen design will fit in with that aesthetic.
For a home with an older, vintage look, you probably wouldn’t want to go with an ultra-contemporary, all-white kitchen with brass fixtures as it might look out of place in the home. But classic wood cabinetry with silver fixtures might be a nice upgrade without overdoing it. Depending on the style of kitchen cabinets you choose and how closely you work with your design consultant, you can get a cohesive look for your new cabinetry that complements the rest of your home nicely.
What Kind of Fixtures Do You Like on Your Cabinetry?
This question is a fun one for any homeowner working on a remodel to consider. Fixtures come in all different styles and finishes so that you can add a bit of personality to your cabinetry. They can change how the entire room looks, so it’s essential to choose wisely. As mentioned previously, the rest of your home can influence how your kitchen looks, so you might want to consider that when choosing your fixtures.

What Are Some Popular, Modern Kitchen Cabinet Styles?
We all know trends come and go and are often cyclical, but there are several styles of kitchen cabinets you might see that withstand the test of time and still look modern.
Monotone Cabinetry
Cabinets that are one color across the board, like the white or gray cabinetry you might find on Pinterest boards, can have staying power throughout time, even though they are a more modern style of cabinetry. You can update their colors or add décor to change their aesthetic over time. Plus, in a few years, if you feel they are starting to look outdated for any reason, a quick hardware reset can change the entire look of these cabinets!
Shaker Cabinets
Shaker cabinets are extremely popular thanks to their clean look and low-maintenance nature. They come in various colors, including natural wood so that you can incorporate them into nearly any kitchen design.
Transitional Cabinets
This cabinet style blends the classic and modern kitchen cabinet styles so you can have that timeless, seamless look in any kitchen, no matter the home’s aesthetic. These are an easy choice for homeowners who can’t decide between cabinet types because they combine the best of many styles.
Specific Aesthetic Cabinets
When you think of “aesthetic” based cabinets, you likely immediately think of country cabinets, with their simple appearance and fixtures. However, several cabinetry types, like Tuscan or Victorian cabinets, fall into this category as well. These older cabinetry styles remain popular because they are not just functional; they are beautiful, ornamental, and add warmth and personality to your space.
Traditional kitchen cabinets might also fall into an aesthetic classification, as they offer a timeless, formal, and neat appearance thanks to the decorative elements that are often incorporated. If you want your kitchen to have an aesthetic of its own, choosing a classical “style” can help.
Dark Wood Kitchen Cabinets
Dark wood cabinets will never go out of style. Luxurious, warm, and beautifully richly colored dark wood cabinetry stands against the time to remain a popular, aesthetically pleasing style for years to come.

Do You Want Custom, Semi-Custom, or Stock Cabinetry?
When deciding on what your new kitchen will look like, one of the major decisions is how customized you’d like your cabinetry to be for the project. There are three levels of customization available to you when you work with Red Rose Cabinetry for your remodel:
- Custom – With this cabinetry type, you have complete flexibility and choice, as the cabinets are built to order and fit into your space. Choose everything from the styles of kitchen cabinets to the fixtures.
- Semi-Custom – This cabinetry type offers less flexibility in design, but you can choose some features.
- Stock – Suitable for those with smaller budgets who want an upgrade, or those who don’t feel they need to be particular with their cabinet design, stock cabinets are pre-fabricated and built to set design standards. So, there is zero flexibility in the look of the cabinets with stock cabinetry.
